THE PROCESS
A micro chip, the size of a grain of rice, is fixed into the foam core of the surfboard. This is done by drilling a tiny hole into the board when it is being laminated, resining the ‘magic grain of rice’ in, slapping an attractive decal/logo over the top then the board can be finished. The chip ads virtually nothing to the weight of the board and the decal lets people know the board has been chipped.
The decal is a sign to the thieves, saying;
‘don’t half inch this one, its got a tracking chip!’
and also a sign saying;
‘BEACH BEAT Surfboards and The AGGIE SURF SHOP are producing the highest spec boards with every attempt to keep your boards safe, make it easier to insure them and find them if they do go missing.’
